torso project
The torso project started in 1997, since when a variety of techniques and materials have been used. It all started with papier maché, then plaster, tin, and terracotta. Another variation was aluminum plates screwed on plaster/acrylic bodies. More recently fiberglass and acrylic glass have been used as materials.
The most recent torsos have been made in raku, the old japanese technique of producing interesting glazes on ceramic. Some torsos are like 3-dimensional paintings, while others resemble ancient or futuristic sets of armour or semi-abstract sculptures.
